Finally Home!!

Just in case anyone wondered where I've been..we lost power last Friday morning (12amish) due to the crazy ice storm that no one expected really. Our power came on this Thursday (6 days later) but the woodstove (outdoor type) was broken due to water freezing and expanding inside it. I got home today a couple of hours ago...and now we're expecting 6-10" of snow any minute and more Sunday. UGH....but we're home, we're warm and that's good. Oh, fyi, we stayed at my in laws. They have a generator and got power on Monday I think.

Christmas Tree

So we decided to get a mini tree...it's 3.5 feet tall because the little man would most likely hurt himself with a big one. This little one is perched on top of our tv corner hutch. It looks good..kinda. Even if we had a big (normal) sized one, I have no clue as to where to put it. We'll see what next year brings, we may not even be in this house. Who knows.

Colton also got some Christmas pjs from his Aunt..here is a pic of him and the tree.

Thankgiving goodies by me!

Here are a couple of pics of the two things I made for our mini thanksgiving I hosted with the in laws.

This is my first homemade pumpkin pie that I made using evaporated goat milk (found it at Walmart!). My son has a cow's milk allergy and I am lactose intolerant so this is quite the treat. It came out wonderful, I have noticed a slight goaty aftertaste, but hell..it's the first pumpkin pie I've had in almost 10 years.

These are the best things ever! This is my grandma's recipe for Buckeye Balls (pb and chocolate) and they are so yummy...my husband loves them. I think we have one left in the fridge..hah!

As for everything else I made, I didn't take pics..silly me. I did make my first turkey (a frozen marval 13 pounder) with the usual trimmings. The turkey was yummy, very moist. I brined it for 6 hours so hopefully that was the answer..I dunno. Hope you all a wonderful Thanksgiving! Time to gear up for Christmas now!

MA trip

Our little excursion to my Aunt's house in Hingham, MA went well. It was tiresome having to keep such a close eye on Colton but it was nice to get away for a change of scenery. It was very nice to not have to cook AND she is basically all organic, so feeding Colton was super simple. No special meal for him, just what we had..he had. I wish I could afford to feed all of us that way but we just don't have the resources, financially or the food source itself! Hannaford just doesn't carry enough organic and their prices are insane. I bought 3 quarts of Almond Milk (Blue Diamond) for a dollar less each at Trader Joe's. Crazy. Now back to the same old, same old. Blah.

Sick..

Why am I always the one to get the cold? Hubby had the sore throat and then nothing. Colton got nothing at all. Me, on the other hand, full blown sore throat, cough and runny nose. Fantastic. And of course to make matters worse, I am supposed to be going to my Aunt's house in MA for th weekend. What do I do???

Just Another Tuesday

Tuesdays drag on and on...why you ask? Hubby goes to his friend's house every Tue and Sat night. Thus making it a long day. We even went grocery shopping but that was 8 o'clock this morning. It's almost 4...little monster goes to bed at like 7:30. Not too bad I guess.

I find it hard to entertain him. How do you play with a 13 month old? He has zero attention span and gets very mad if you try to show him how something works. He won't draw with crayons, he insists on eating them. We try books but he eats those too and gets very mad if you try otherwise. Anyone have this problem and a solution? He loves to be outside but it's getting quite chilly....it is New England and mid November!!

Well here is a picture of the little monster when he fell off his electric 4 wheeler into some prickers...of course, right?

On a side note..I've added a couple new items to my etsy shop. Check it out at http://www.nhmommy.etsy.com

People are rude

Why are people so inconsiderate? I had to meet a guy over on Rte 9 where our Jeep is out for sale at 11:30. So I get there early..the nice thing to do right? Me, with the yelling 1 year old in the back seat who is hungry because lunchtime is at noon. I let Colton out and he wanders a bit in the yard, playing with leaves and dirt. It's now 11:45 and I decide I am not staying here, wasting my time for some idiot. I leave a nice little note saying I'm going to Millo's (2 seconds literally away) and my cell number. No call. I get home after picking up my Rock Op Coop order at Virginia's (www.livinglocalnh.blogspot.com) and call the idiot's cell. No answer...I leave a nice message. It is now 2 hours later and nothing.....argh..people please.

Another pain..literally

I got dizzy back in April. It came in spells and was pretty bad, bad enough that I had to catch myself from falling sometimes. So I went to the Ear, nose and throat doc. Everything perfect and I wasn't dizzy anymore by the end of it all. Now I am again, not nearly as bad but annoyingly so. I have an MRI schdeuled for 10/13 if I'm not pregnant. Meanwhile I've developed lower abdominal pain, I WebMD'd it and it could be endometriosis. Hmm. I'll probably call the doc on Monday...argh.

Negative

Negative prego test. It would help if I had a cycle ya know...argh.

6 days past BD

So it's been six days since we tried for #2. No sign of anything so who knows what's happening inside me. The doctor said to do prego tests every 2 weeks just to catch the timing of a would be pregnancy. So that would be the 18th. Hmm. We shall see what happens!!

Randomness

So another day has come..a long weekend has gone. I don't think anything was really accomplished this weekend, however it wasn't hell either. Hubby gets very antsy and depressed when he is home with nothing to keep him occupied. He would go crazy doing what I do everyday. It takes a special kind of person to be a SAHM.
I almost feel like I am neglectful at times to my son. He is very whiny and clingy sometimes for absolutely no reason. I know he gets bored being home so much but there's not a lot I can do about it (especially with gas prices). How do you entertain an 11 month old? I dont really know, he has no attention span and doesn't like to be read to even. He'd rather eat the book. Yummy.
Another note, I think he may be left handed. What kind of challenges does this incur?
Okay that's about it for today.

The Road thus Traveled

Where do I begin? Colton is 10 1/2 months old now and honestly, I don't know how I have maintained my sanity this long. 1- it has flown by. 2- I've taken it day by day. 3- I really DO need a break and 4- Hoping for number 2. Wow..am I nutz or what? I keep thinking that he needs to have a sibling..what is childhood and life without a sibling? I don't know anyone who is an only child...I am one of five. Can I handle it, honestly? I have no clue, but hell I can give it a shot but I can't go back once it's done...hmm.

My husband is basically no help whatsoever when it comes to Colton. He said it was my idea, therefore my responsibility 24/7. Argh. I know he loves him to pieces, he just has a hard time because Colton doesn't know what is wrong, what annoys Daddy and so on. Will it get better? Should I bring another one into this? I so miss the baby stage...and here I was a mere 3 months ago saying no way in hell. Hah.

Down to the nitty gritty of it. I still nurse Colton at least 5 times a day and don't believe I've gotten my cycle back...so when could this happen? I don't know and I do want them close in age so we only have so long..I'm not getting any younger either in my mind. I just turned 26. We want to be free from children when we hit 45ish. So yea..this is my story, a place to vent and share...be warned.
